Stars With Soles

It seems TOMS Shoes, based in Los Angeles, are the new Uggs–both fashionable and comfy. Some of the brand’s celeb fans include Kristen Stewart, Liv Tyler, Keira Knightley, Bono, Brad Pitt, and Scarlett Johansson. TOMS also has several Vegan styles that do not use any animal materials i.e. leather, etc. As if that wasn’t cool enough, for every pair sold, TOMS will give a pair of shoes to a child in need. One for one. As a result, 87,000 children in need have received shoes so far.

Argentinean inspired, these flats are way cooler than Keds and come in several fabrics including corduroy (I own a pair in blue), suede, canvas and glitter ($42-70). Socks aren’t needed for these kicks, especially not for their soft faux-Shearling lined ones.

TOMS also has boots that are basically their flat canvas shoes, but with a stretchy gauze-like wrap that can wrap up and around your leg via Velcro to just below your knee or at any length. It’s offered in red, brown, olive green and black and is perfect with stretchy leggings, shorts, skinny jeans and skirts.

TOMS are available for men, women and tiny toms (kids) and are sold online or at Urban Outfitters, Nordstrom’s, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and Scoop NYC.
